I use a word wall in which I introduce new words each week. Some of the words introduced are high frequency words, while some of them are SUPER DUPER WORD CHOICES. This simply means words which are not used everyday: so instead of plain we change it to ordinary. A couple of words I added recently were the five parts to the writing process and the four different kinds of sentences. The class is currently working on an Expository Essay in which they will learn to use an outline, take notes, cite their work, and learn to skim and scan their resources for appropriate research material.
